Fantastic!
I think Kristyn is a great Barbie movie doll, and easily the best one since the 2000s! I'm surprised at how underrated she is; I almost never see anyone appreciating this doll. I'm usually not a big fan of dolls with gimmicks, but the feature on this doll is brilliant and works perfectly! It's also very durable and can withstand washing and constant play. Many times, with outfit transformation dolls, one of the outfits gets compromised for the sake of making the other look better. I've never been a fan of this imbalance, but this isn't the case with Kristyn! Both her outfits look equally good, and neither looks weird or halfway there. You can't even tell that this doll has a feature because of how normal and good both outfits look! Take the Annika doll from Magic of the Pegasus, for example. As much as I love that doll, her white outfit looks bulky and is clearly being compromised to prioritize her main purple outfit. Not just outfit-transforming dolls, but many dolls with gimmicks involving clothes look strange and unnatural and can be counterproductive. The best example is the Genevieve doll from 12 Dancing Princesses, which is an interesting coincidence because it's one of the three main ballerina Barbie movie dolls (Clara, Genevieve, Kristyn). That doll is easily the worst Barbie movie doll of the 2000s! Her gimmick is terrible; the spinning skirt looks ridiculous and ugly! Most importantly, this terrible gimmick compromises so much of the doll, like her hip and knee articulation, and of course, the extremely bulky and strange skirt! Kristyn's hip articulation is restricted as well because of her feature, but you can easily make it accessible by pushing the miniskirt upwards, then pushing it back down when you want to transform her skirt. She also has click-jointed knees. Whereas Genevieve's hip and knee articulation is absent altogether. Kristyn is a huge upgrade from Genevieve! Clara is unmatched, though; she's the second-best movie doll after 2008 Mariposa, in my opinion, of course. Anyway, back to Kristyn. The transformation of the Kristyn doll looks wonderful! The way the skirt flows and twirls with all its layers looks so satisfying and magical! I've seen many people do the transformation incorrectly by spinning the bottom half of her body instead of the top half, which makes it look underwhelming and bland. I love her accessories as well, the sparkly crown with the rose and the necklace! Her facial screening is also great; the makeup and the little stars in her eyes are a really nice touch! She's covered in glitter from head to toe, and the sparkly shoes are wonderful. Also, this doll is wonderful at this price! I'm quite surprised that she's so affordable, considering that at this price, a lot of modern dolls (if not most) have plastic tops, little to no accessories, and one layer of terrible quality papery fabric. Kristyn is a complete 180 from that! She has many layers of nice fabric along with a fabric top and great accessories! Okay, I think I'm done lol. Sorry for the walls of text, and thanks for reading if anyone did!
